features & specs
The 2025 Audi A7 is pretty, practical, and loaded with high-tech features.
What kind of vehicle is the 2025 Audi A7? What does it compare to?
The 2025 Audi A7 is a midsize luxury car with sleek fastback styling. Compare it to the BMW 8-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
Is the 2025 Audi A7 a good car?
The A7 is a beautiful and reasonably practical choice thanks to sleek styling that hides a practical hatchback cargo area. It’s also wonderful to drive, earning it a 6.6 on the TCC scale. (Read more about how we rate cars.)
What's new for the 2025 Audi A7?
The A7 sees some minor trim-level updates, including far more standard features for the mid-level Premium Plus trim. It now comes with acoustic glass, four-zone automatic climate control, cooled front seats, and heated rear seats, while the Prestige trim adds front-seat massagers and upgraded leather spread across the dash and center console.
This may very well be the A7’s final model year, at least in its current configuration. Audi is likely to replace it with a broader lineup likely to include a sedan when it revamps its range over the next year or so.
The A7 range is plenty pretty in its current configuration, though. It’s an A6 until you reach its roofline, which slopes elegantly toward a pert, sporty tail end.
The lineup comes in three models: 335-hp A7, 444-hp S7, and 621-hp RS 7. No version is a slouch, though the S7 balances day-to-day usability and performance better than the rest of the range. Fuel-economy estimates range from as high as 24 mpg combined for the A7 to just 17 mpg combined for the RS 7.
All have a decidedly sporty feel, with firm ride tuning and quick-reacting steering. RS 7s may be a bit too harsh on rough roads, though.
Inside, the A7 range has a spacious interior with spectacular seats and lots of tech. The ace here is the big 24.9 cubic-foot cargo area, which can swallow about 50 cubic feet of stuff when the rear seatbacks are flopped down. It’s not quite a wagon, but it’s still quite practical.
How much does the 2025 Audi A7 cost?
The base A7 Premium runs $73,925 and comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 20-inch alloy wheels, a big sunroof, and leather seats. We’d probably step up to the $78,995 Premium Plus with its cooled front seats, heated rear seats, adaptive cruise control, active lane control, and surround-view camera system.
The S7 rings in at $86,995 to start, while the RS 7 will set you back at least $129,895.
Where is the 2025 Audi A7 made?
In Ingolstadt, Germany.
2025 Audi A7 Styling
The 2025 Audi A7 is sleek and stylish.
Is the Audi A7 a good-looking car?
Indeed, even if some of its conservative details aren’t quite as unique as its overall shape. The 2025 A7 scores an 8 here, with two points for its beautiful exterior shape and one for its high-tech cabin.
Tweaks last year brought a new grille design to the A7, but they didn’t disturb its fastback profile. The A7 is a sleek, low-slung car, which stands in marked contrast to the comparatively frumpy Audi A6 sedan. It’s best in lighter hues with bigger wheels, though the more wheel you bolt into its wells, the rougher it rides. Think twice before adding those sexy 22-inchers.
S7s mostly look like A7s, but the RS 7 version has its own bumpers and window trim as well as a deploying rear wing with a different shape than the little fin that pops up on the other models.
Inside, the A7 samples the A6 for its dash with its big digital instrument display and two more screens cascading down from the dash onto the center console. Audi offers a decent number of interior hues here, so there’s really no reason to stick with the all-black affair that masks so many of this car’s pretty lines.
2025 Audi A7 Performance
The 2025 Audi A7 offers fleet-footed performance.
There’s no mild version of the 2025 Audi A7, though it goes from quick to downright rapid as you work your way up the lineup. We call the range a 7 based on the entry-level version; S7 and RS 7 models would rate higher thanks to just how much more power they have underhood.
Is the Audi A7 4WD?
Yes, these cars have standard all-wheel drive.
How fast is the Audi A7?
The base version has a 335-hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 that helps this big hatchback zip to 60 mph in about 5.1 seconds. That’s quick. The S7, however, isn’t that much pricier once you’ve started adding in a few options. Its 2.9-liter V-6 employs two of its own turbos for a hefty 444-hp rating and a 0-60 mph run of just over 4.0 seconds, though its mid-range passing power is far superior to the base setup.
Both V-6 A7s use a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that fires through its cogs quickly while maintaining a confident feel at lower speeds. Either version is a fine setup.
These models ride firmly even in base guise, and they have quick-responding steering. The S7 can be a bit firmer, but it’s not too harsh for most commuters.
The RS 7 is its own ballgame. It pushes 621 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque to the wheels from a sonorous 4.0-liter V-8 and a conventional 8-speed automatic transmission. This setup delivers exceptional power in any circumstance, accompanied by a lovely snarl. In fact, there may be just a bit too much snarl since Audi removed a fair amount of sound deadening last year. Audi also made forged and milled 22-inch wheels an option last year. They’re pretty and they’re light, though they may not hold up to real-world commuting all that well. We strongly recommend adaptive dampers on any version where they’re not standard. We’re less sold on the sport exhaust in the RS 7 as it makes an already loud car a bit too thunderous.
2025 Audi A7 Comfort & Quality
The 2025 Audi A7 pairs a top-notch cabin with a roomy hatch area.
Audi’s A7 is a practical and pretty choice with a spacious cabin fitted with luxurious materials. It gets points for its front seats, its fine trim, and its big cargo area, bringing it to an 8 here.
All models have standard leather, though the nicest hides pop in at the Premium Plus trim level. The standard front seats have plenty of power adjustments and good bolstering; select an S7 and there’s a bit more bolster, while the RS 7’s seats may be a bit too confining for wider drivers. Rear-seat passengers will discover decent legroom, though headroom is somewhat limited by the sloping roofline.
The 24.9 cubic-foot cargo area can expand to about 50 cubes when the second-row seatbacks are plopped forward. Those figures trail the capacious A6 Allroad, but they are far better than the A6 sedan.
2025 Audi A7 Safety
The 2025 Audi A7 has good crash-avoidance tech, though it has not been tested.
How safe is the Audi A7?
We can’t say for certain, though Audi has a deservedly good reputation for crashworthiness. The A7 has not been tested by the IIHS or the NHTSA, so we can’t give it a score here.
Every A7 comes with automatic emergency braking and blind-spot monitors, and all but the base trim have adaptive cruise control, active lane control, front and rear parking sensors, automatic high beams, lane-departure warnings, and a surround-view camera system that’s particularly helpful for parking since over-the-shoulder vision isn’t great. Also available are automatic parking, intersection assist, and a system that raises the vehicle in a T-bone crash to help the structure absorb the hit.
2025 Audi A7 Features
While not a bargain, the 2025 Audi A7 feels worth its hefty cost.
The 2025 Audi A7 lineup comes in three basic permutations, two of which are available in a trio of trim levels. That’s a decent amount of selection, especially since every model has a big screen and lots of standard features. The A7 is an 8 overall.
The 4-year/50,000-mile warranty is nothing special, though.
Starting at $73,295, the base A7 Premium comes with 20-inch alloy wheels, a large sunroof, leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seats with memory, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility.
Which Audi A7 should I buy?
The base A7 sedan is fine for many, though the $2,300 or so for the Convenience package buys adaptive cruise control, active lane control, and a surround-view camera system. It’s worth it. Then again, you could spend about $3,000 more for the Premium Plus that has those features plus acoustic glass, Bang & Olufsen audio, cooled front seats, heated rear seats, and four-zone climate control. We’d either stop there or step up to the S7, which runs $86,995 to start and tops out around $95,000 for the Prestige trim with its softer leather, massaging front seats, and a few more niceties.
How much is a fully loaded Audi A7?
The RS 7 comes in a single trim: Prestige. It lacks little, as you’d expect for $129,895, though special paint, upholstery, and styling packages can add about $30,000 to that.
2025 Audi A7 Fuel Economy
The A7 isn’t Audi’s most frugal model.
Is the Audi A7 good on gas?
Eh, not really. We rate it a 2 based on last year’s model, and we expect few changes for 2025. Last year’s A7 was estimated at 21 mpg city, 30 highway, 24 combined, or 19/26/22 for the S7. The RS7 guzzles at a rate of 14/22/17 mpg.
All models need premium fuel.
