features & specs
The 2025 Buick Envision excels for its shapely bod, but it’s light on fuel-efficient tech.
What kind of vehicle is the 2025 Buick Envision? What does it compare to?
The Envision is a luxury compact crossover SUV. Compare it to the Lincoln Corsair, Acura RDX, and Lexus NX.
Is the 2025 Buick Envision a good SUV?
With slippery styling, good safety tech, and a spacious cabin, the Envision has plenty of assets. It lacks an electrified option, though, and its limited crash-test ratings mean its 6.8 out of 10 TCC Rating is subject to change. (Read more about how we rate cars.)
What's new for the 2025 Buick Envision?
The Envision sees no major changes for 2025.
With narrow high-mounted headlights over a gaping grille, the Envision has a dashing, daring look—especially for conservative Buick. Most versions wear big 20-inch wheels that look great with the big, flared fenders, too.
The Envision isn’t as dramatic inside, but the wide 30-inch display that handles both instrument and infotainment controls impresses. The dash has little in the way of excess adornment, though two-tone options dress it up a bit.
Underhood, the 228-hp 2.0-liter turbo-4 lacks the zip you’ll find in some sporty rivals, and the automatic transmission can struggle to decide which of its nine gears is most suitable for any situation. Just 25 mpg combined is not particularly impressive, even with standard all-wheel drive.
While not huge inside, the Envision comfortably accommodates four passengers all around. Rear-seat riders have good leg room for the segment, though the bench is a tight squeeze for three abreast. Cargo room is good for the segment.
This compact Buick is a standout for driver-assistance tech, though. All models have adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking that can sense pedestrians and cyclists, and a surround-view camera system. That tech bodes well, even though the 2025 Envision has yet to be crash tested by the NHTSA or the IIHS.
How much does the 2025 Buick Envision cost?
Look for the Envision to run about $39,000 to start, but it’s quite well-equipped. Look for a 30-inch touchscreen, a surround-view camera system, Bose audio, and plenty of crash-avoidance features.
Where is the 2025 Buick Envision made?
In China.
2025 Buick Envision Styling
The 2025 Envision may be Buick’s most interesting model in generations.
Is the Buick Envision a good-looking car?
Undoubtedly so. Its clean, balanced design works well. It’s an attention-grabber, but the 2025 Buick Envision doesn’t brag about its styling. Compared to some rivals with far too many lines and details, the Envision is a pleasant, cohesive SUV. Its unique design starts with narrow daytime running lights stacked high above headlights that flank a wide, gaping grille. ST versions have an extra lower lip and some other sporty touches, but they’re hardly over the top. Most models have 20-inch wheels that look great, too.
Inside, it’s the 30-inch screen that commands attention in what is otherwise a soothing, simple cabin. It’s not ritzy, but it exudes a certain form of class. Higher-end versions with available two-tone trim look the best inside, though even the base Envision looks nicer than similarly priced mainstream rivals.
2025 Buick Envision Performance
The 2025 Buick Envision has a good ride and acceleration.
Is the Buick Envision 4WD?
Yes, for 2025 all Envision models have all-wheel drive.
How fast is the Buick Envision?
It’s no rocket, but the Envision has good acceleration from its 228-hp 2.0-liter turbo-4, which piles on power from just 1,500 rpm. The 9-speed automatic transmission can be slow to downshift when needed, but it behaves well enough in normal driving situations. From a stop, it slips through gears quickly enough. Stomp on the gas pedal and that’s when it starts to wonder what it should do next.
The Envision has a host of drive modes, but the default Touring mode suits this crossover best. With just 6.7 inches of ground clearance and big wheels wrapped in low-profile tires, it’s hardly an off-roader.
Instead, the conventional front strut/rear multi-link suspension setup does a nice job soaking up big bumps even with those large 20-inch wheels included on most versions. The top Avenir trim can be had with adaptive dampers that take the edge off, though adding them makes a $50,000-ish Envision. We’re not sure it rides like a $50,000 crossover.
The ST package is about looks, not handling. Don’t look for BMW X3 M Competition-grade performance here.
2025 Buick Envision Comfort & Quality
The 2025 Buick Envision has a classy, spacious interior.
Buick’s compact crossover SUV is a little bigger than it looks. It’s not the most spacious in its segment, but it tops many chief rivals. We give it an 8 out of 10 thanks to its commodious cargo area, its good front seats, and impressive rear-seat legroom.
Buick fits power-adjustable front seats across the line. Synthetic leather is standard, with real hides on the options list. Keep going with features and you can wind up with massaging seats—a nice touch that almost cancels out the fact that heated seats are optional rather than standard.
Rear-seat riders have a hefty 39.3 inches of legroom, but three abreast is wishful thinking. Fold the 60:40 rear seatbacks and the cargo area grows from 25.2 to 52.7 cubic feet.
Buick did a nice job selecting interior trim even in base versions. The top Avenir has nicer two-tone leather and active noise cancelation, though at $50,000 it is no match for what Mercedes-Benz and BMW deliver. There’s only so much an automaker can dress up a $35,000 cabin, after all.
2025 Buick Envision Safety
The 2025 Buick Envision is light on crash-test data.
How safe is the Buick Envision?
It should do a good job avoiding a wreck, but we don’t know how it’ll fare if smacked into another car. That’s because neither the IIHS nor the NHTSA has crash-tested the 2025 Buick Envision. We’ll update this space when and if they do so.
All models are well-equipped with driver-assistance and collision-avoidance tech, even by compact luxury SUV standards. Look for automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, active lane control, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitors, a surround-view camera system, and rear parking sensors across the range.
Outward vision is OK, but not great. Big roof pillars make forward and over-the-shoulder vision a bit tricky.
2025 Buick Envision Features
The 2025 Buick Envision dazzles with its big screen.
Buick includes a lot of features on every version of the 2025 Envision, though its value slides the more you spend. We rate the range at 8 out of 10 thanks to good standard features, impressive infotainment, and a wide range of options.
The base Preferred trim level should cost somewhere in the $39,000 neighborhood with front-wheel drive, or $38,000 or so with all-wheel drive. It has a 30-inch screen with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google Built-In, nine-speaker Bose audio, and head-up display as well as 20-inch alloy wheels, active safety tech, and power-adjustable front seats with combination cloth and synthetic leather upholstery.
Which Buick Envision should I buy?
The Preferred trim is likely enough for most shoppers, though we’d add the option package that includes a hands-free tailgate, a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, driver-side memory settings, remote start, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
The mid-level ST has leather seats and 20-inch wheels but few other reasons to splurge.
How much is a fully loaded Buick Envision?
The top Envision Avenir has a massaging driver’s seat, cooled front seats, and heated rear seats, plus a rear camera mirror. It’s nice, but is it $50,000 nice? We’re not so sure.
2025 Buick Envision Fuel Economy
The 2025 Buick Envision isn’t as thrifty as rivals with hybrid options.
Is the Buick Envision good on gas?
Eh, it’s all right. Check back for official figures, but this powertrain has achieved 25 mpg combined in a previous configuration. Considering the Lexus NX offers up to 39 mpg combined with all-wheel drive, that’s hardly impressive.
