The Blazer sees no major changes for 2025.
There’s not much retro aside from the name of Chevy’s five-seat SUV, which tries to be more like a Camaro-inspired all-weather machine than any sort of off-roader. Its sharp styling is distinctive, if not exactly cohesive, and its interior wears angular lines to match. But the Blazer hasn’t seen a big update in more than half a decade now, so some of the thrill is starting to wear thin.
Inside, the 11.0-inch touchscreen sits high on the dash, with a trio of round air vents nestled below. The Blazer has more buttons and knobs than GM products with newer designs, and that’s just fine with us.
Interior space is good overall, though the seats are thinly padded and not great for long-distance road trips. Cargo volume is about average for the segment. Unlike some rivals, the Blazer doesn’t have a third row.
The standard 2.0-liter turbo-4 furnishes acceptable around-town acceleration and works well enough with standard front-wheel drive. But it’s the smooth, strong V-6 that wins our hearts. It helps the Blazer live up to its sporty styling. All models have confident handling and a taut but not punishing ride quality. The 9-speed automatic transmission can sometimes stumble through gears but overall works in the Blazer’s favor. With fuel-economy ratings from 21 mpg to 25 mpg combined, the 2025 Blazer is on the thirsty side.
Good crash-test ratings and a solid suite of standard crash-avoidance tech make the Blazer a safe choice overall, though Chevy charges extra for adaptive cruise control where some competitors make that tech standard.

Budget $36,795 for a base Blazer 2LT with the standard turbo-4 engine and front-wheel drive. With a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, and a decent 10.2-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, it’s not a bad value. But we’d spend up for at least the RS model with its V-6 engine, which better delivers on the Blazer’s zippy styling.

Is the Chevrolet Blazer a good-looking car?
It’s distinctive and fun, if not exactly timeless, but the 2025 Chevy Blazer remains a standout. This basic shape dates back to 2019 with few major updates since, but this was a pretty striking design back then and it has aged well. The slim LED lighting up front above a big honeycomb grille helps give the Blazer a low-slung look. A blacked-out roof provides a sporty touch that culminates in a high spoiler.
Inside, the cabin has a fairly large 10.0-inch touchscreen surrounded by round air vents and a small panel of climate and other secondary controls below. Chevy offers a lot of upholstery and trim options, especially as you work your way up the lineup.

In a sea of dull crossover SUVs, the Chevy Blazer stands out for its sharp handling and taut ride. It’s a 7 out of 10, especially when fitted with the available V-6.
Is the Chevrolet Blazer 4WD?
It can be. Front-wheel drive is standard. Models with the 4-cylinder engine can be fitted with a basic all-wheel-drive system that delivers power rearward after it detects slippage. Those with the V-6 have a torque-vectoring system with a twin-clutch rear differential that delivers better grip on any kind of terrain, including dry pavement.
How fast is the Chevrolet Blazer?
It’s not slow in any form, but the 228-hp 2.0-liter turbo-4 is no rocketship. The standard 9-speed automatic gearbox tends to hunt between gears, sometimes upshifting far earlier than needed. Base models can run to 60 mph in about eight seconds.
Far better is the available V-6, which has 308 hp and a hearty 270 lb-ft of torque. It cuts that 60 mph run to just six seconds, and it has a pleasant snarl. It’s thirsty and expensive, but its character suits the Blazer well.
Blazer RS models have a special sport drive mode that adds more steering heft and tweaks the transmission’s tuning for an especially sporty feel, but even base Blazers have good handling and a firm but comfortable ride.
V-6 models can tow up to 4,500 pounds; those with the 4-cylinder are limited to 3,500 pounds.
2025 Chevrolet Blazer Comfort & Quality
Chevy doesn’t fit its best seats to the Blazer.
The 2025 Blazer has a pretty spacious cabin, but its seats are subpar even on top-end versions. We rate it 6 out of 10 thanks to its good cargo area, but that’s where we stop.
Base models have narrow front seats with limited padding, though at least they’re heated and the driver has power adjustment. Higher-end models add leather and cooling, but even they aren’t that much better.
The rear seat has good legroom—nearly 40 inches—but the bench is lightly padded and three abreast is wishful thinking.
We’re more impressed with the cargo area, which has some hidden storage pockets and expands from 30.5 to 64.2 cubic feet when the 60;40 rear seatbacks are lowered.
Base models are just OK inside when it comes to materials, though other versions have decent soft-touch trim and active noise cancellation that impart a high-end feel.

How safe is the Chevrolet Blazer?
It has done well in what crash tests the IIHS and the NHTSA have performed, and it comes with a decent array of crash-avoidance tech. We rate it at 7 out of 10 thanks to a five-star NHTSA rating and standard driver-assistance tech.
All models have automatic emergency braking, active lane control, blind-spot monitors, rear parking sensors, and automatic high-beam headlights, while a rear camera mirror and a surround-view camera system are optional. We highly recommend those two extras since rearward vision is poor.
Adaptive cruise control is also available.

While not quite a luxury SUV, the Blazer can be outfitted like one. The lineup starts around $36,795 for the base 2LT trim with turbo-4 power, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats and steering wheel, and a 10.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. All-wheel drive costs a hefty $2,700, though.
We land at an 8 for the Blazer thanks to its standard fare, its big touchscreen, and its overall strong value proposition.
Which Chevrolet Blazer should I buy?
The Blazer is at its best with the V-6, which means stepping up to the $44,195 RS trim, or the Premier for the same price. Both have Bose audio and navigation, but they differ in their styling details. The RS has dark-finish exterior trim and a cabin with contrasting red stitching for a sporty look, while the Premier has more brightwork and a cabin that can be outfitted with tan leather for a pleasant, airy appearance.
How much is a fully loaded Chevrolet Blazer?
Load a Premier up with extra-cost paint, rather dashing 21-inch alloy wheels, cooled front seats, heated rear seats, a rear camera mirror, adaptive cruise control, and a few other niceties will set you back about $50,000 with all-wheel drive.
