The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica excels as a refined, spacious family hauler.
What kind of vehicle is the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica? What does it compare to?
The 2024 Pacifica is a three-row minivan with an optional hybrid system and all-wheel drive, though not together. Shop it against the Toyota Sienna and Kia Carnival.
Is the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica a good car?
The Pacifica is a solid choice among minivans thanks to its highly flexible interior and its refined ride. It’s a 6.7 on the TCC scale. (Read more about how we rate cars.)
What's new for the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica?
Two new paint colors are available across the range. Hybrid models see the previously available Touring L and Limited trim levels consolidated into a new Select trim with synthetic leather upholstery.
The Pacifica is unabashedly a minivan, yet it boasts classy styling and an upscale interior that make it far more than just a Little Tykes version of a family hauler. It has plenty of room for up to eight passengers, though most versions seat seven in supreme comfort. (Even the third-row middle seat is no penalty box.)
Power comes from a 3.6-liter V-6, which can be upgraded to plug-in hybrid spec capable of motoring for more than 30 miles on electricity alone before the gas engine kicks on. A 9-speed automatic delivers power to the wheels in non-hybrid versions. Those with the hybrid powertrain use a CVT instead. Fuel economy is just OK in non-hybrids; figure mid-20s combined. Hybrids top 30 mpg combined after the battery is depleted, which is good but not as impressive as the Toyota Sienna.
All-wheel drive is optional with the standard V-6, but not the hybrid.
All versions have a comfortable, absorbent ride that soaks up big bumps exceptionally well. Decent steering heft and limited lean in corners almost makes these vans fun, too.
But the real fun is in the back seat, especially with the optional touchscreens that can provide live video streaming and come preloaded with road-trip games.
Even without that admittedly pricey option, the Pacifica offers true stretch-out space and astounding cargo room. Non-hybrid and non-Pinnacle versions have middle-row seats that cleverly fold into the floor. All models have a third row that does the same disappearing act.
Top crash-test results and plenty of crash-avoidance tech are assets, though the latest round of IIHS testing has revealed that the Pacifica—and all of its rivals—don’t protect passengers in row two as well as they do in row one.
How much does the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica cost?
A base Pacifica now runs $40,020, though we recommend the step-up model for about $3,000 more. All models have a great 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone mirroring plus heated front seats and steering wheel, power tailgate and side doors, and adaptive cruise control. The mid-level Pacifica Touring L swaps in synthetic leather seats that will be easier to clean than the base cloth, and it is the gateway to all-wheel drive.
Hybrids should start around $52,000 when pricing is announced.
Where is the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica made?

2024 Chrysler Pacifica Styling
The Chrysler Pacifica wears suave lines inside and out.
Is the Chrysler Pacifica a good-looking car?
It’s an intriguing take on a two-box shape. While it flaunts its minivan doors, the Pacifica manages to look upscale thanks to a cohesive body, delicate chrome touches, and some particularly deep paint hues. It’s a 7 on the TCC scale thanks to good looks inside and out.
Its front end features a big grille surrounded by avian-like headlights. A thin strip of brightwork surrounds the windows from the side, and it’s echoed at the bottom of the doors. From the rear, however, it’s all minivan with a big slab of sheet metal revealing the huge cargo door.
The Pacifica has a nice, soothing look inside with shapely lines and generally cohesive switchgear arrangement. We lament that Chrysler has dialed it back to a few interior hues, though. The contrast between the black seats and off-white trim is not very appealing.
2024 Chrysler Pacifica Performance
The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica has slick moves for a minivan.
The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica has a luxury-grade ride and a generally refined powertrain. It nets a 6 on the TCC scale thanks to the way it smothers bumps. We’d give its V-6 a point for smoothness, but then we’d have to take that away because the 9-speed automatic transmission never behaves as well as it should.
Is the Chrysler Pacifica 4WD?
V-6 versions offer an all-wheel-drive system that disconnects the rear axle in most situations to save fuel.
How fast is the Chrysler Pacifica?
The 3.6-liter V-6 is still the more popular choice. It’s rated at a decent 287 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque, which goes to the wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. That gearbox’s behavior can be troublesome at low speeds, where it fumbles its way through too many cogs. It’s also highly reluctant to step into ninth gear. It works best when driven with authority, which can be a bit frustrating.
Good steering heft helps the Pacifica drive confidently down a winding road and it settles into a nice highway cruise. A well-controlled ride with standard 18-inch wheels only becomes a bit firmer with the optional 20s, so try before you sign on the dotted line. It’s a quiet mile-eater, among the best road-trip cars money can buy.
The Pacifica Hybrid pairs two electric motors and a small 16-kwh battery pack to a detuned version of the V-6 for a system output of 260 hp. At lower speeds, it’ll motor around for shorter stints on electric power alone. Fully charged, it can even handle highway speeds before the gas engine kicks on.
The downside to this is that the hybrid weighs 500 pounds more than the base Pacifica, which means more body lean when pushed into a corner.
2024 Chrysler Pacifica Comfort & Quality
The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica is positively gargantuan inside.
Not only does the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica easily handle up to eight adult-size passengers, it does so in comfort. We rate it at 9 out of 10 thanks to decent front seats, the actual ability to accommodate the advertised number of occupants, huge cargo room, and clever stowing middle and rear seats in most versions.
Front-seat riders have reasonably supportive seats with power adjustment for the driver. They’re a bit heavy on lumbar support for our tastes, though the firm cushions provide all-day comfort.
Non-hybrid Pacificas other than the top Pinnacle trim level have second-row seats called Stow ‘n Go that collapse into the floor. All models have a 60/40-split third-row bench that does the same. Seats stowed away and the Pacifica is like the automotive equivalent of a C-130.
Some caveats, though. For one, the second-row seats are thinly padded to enable that folding ability. The second-row middle seat is a downright rare option, too, so shop wisely if you need to seat eight passengers. Finally, hybrids and the Pinnacle lack that flexibility.
Maximum cargo utility stands at an astounding 141 cubic feet, among the most you’ll find in any vehicle short of a Sprinter. Even behind the third row, the Pacifica can lug more than 32 cubic feet of stuff thanks to its low floor.
Interior trim is mostly in line with pricing, though Chrysler has become a bit stingy with colors and upholsteries. Leather seats are now restricted to the pricey Limited and Pinnacle versions. And you’ll have to be happy with a curious contrast between bone-colored plastics and black leather seats unless you opt for the Pinnacle with its warm brown upholstery. Chrysler once offered saddle brown and gray options, but those have vanished from the lineup.
2024 Chrysler Pacifica Safety
The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica has done well overall in crash tests.
How safe is the Chrysler Pacifica?
It’s a strong overall choice, garnering top scores from the IIHS, and the NHTSA, plus it comes standard with a host of crash-avoidance features. Those assets bring it to an 8 on the TCC scale.
The IIHS called it a Top Safety Pick+ last year. The NHTSA rates it at five stars overall.
That said, the IIHS recently tested minivans and concluded that the Pacifica, like its rivals, offers weaker rear-seat protection in a wreck than front seat.
Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking that can detect and stop for pedestrians, active lane control, a rear-seat reminder, and blind-spot monitors. A surround-view camera system and parking sensors are widely available—and worthwhile since over-the-shoulder vision is not great.
2024 Chrysler Pacifica Features
Shop wisely and the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica can be a decent value.
Even though its price has climbed considerably over the past few years, the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica is still a pretty good value for a family hauler. We rate it at 8, with points above average for its infotainment system, its good standard features including lots of driver-assistance tech, and its wide range of trim levels and option packages that allow for a degree of customization.
V-6 models are covered by a mediocre 3-year/36,000-mile warranty. Hybrids have a 5-year/60,000-mile warranty plus 10 years of powertrain coverage, which would net another point.
The base Pacifica Touring is reasonably equipped with 17-inch wheels, LED exterior lighting, cloth seats that are heated up front, second-row seats that fold into the floor, a power tailgate, power sliding side doors, adaptive cruise control, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. It’ll set you back $40,020, or $500 more if you want any color other than black or white.
Which Chrysler Pacifica should I buy?
The mid-level Touring L strikes us as the one to have. Its synthetic leather upholstery will be easier to clean than cloth and it comes with a much nicer center console between the front seats. It’s also the gateway to all-wheel drive, built-in navigation, a surround-view camera system, rear-seat entertainment, and a number of shockingly expensive appearance packages. Particularly egregious is the S Appearance Package that for $2,245 adds blacked-out accents and 20-inch wheels. At least the Road Tripper Package also includes rubber floor mats, a trailer hitch, and trailer sway damping for similar money.
A base Touring L runs $43,680, while all-wheel drive is $2,995 more.
If you want leather, you’ll need to step up to the Limited for about $51,000. It’s pricey, but it includes a sunroof, cooled front seats, heated second-row seats, a wireless charging pad, a vacuum, and navigation. Before you start adding options to a Touring L, the Limited is worth a look.
The Pacifica Hybrid lineup starts off in a new Select trim level outfitted similarly to the Touring L, though federal, state, and even local rebates may bring it closer to parity with the non-hybrid.
There is no Hybrid Limited for 2024.
How much is a fully loaded Chrysler Pacifica?
The top Pinnacle trim level checks in at $56,610 with 20-inch wheels, an SUV-like full center console, a 19-speaker Harman/Kardon audio system, and rear-seat touchscreens. It’s an appealing executive-grade van and it includes much more comfortable second-row seats with extra padding. The downside? Those seats don’t fold into the floor as in other trims.
A top Pacifica Hybrid Pinnacle should run about $63,000.
2024 Chrysler Pacifica Fuel Economy
The Pacifica Hybrid offers as much as 32 miles of gas-free commuting.
Is the Chrysler Pacifica good on gas?
It is, if it’s a plug-in hybrid. That model’s battery-electric powertrain is estimated to deliver as much as 32 miles of range on a full charge. After that, it’s rated at a still-decent 30 mpg combined. To be fair, the Toyota Sienna tops the Pacifica Hybrid’s combined rating, though it doesn’t offer a plug-in version.
But our 2 out of 10 rating here applies to the standard V-6-powered model, which sells in greater numbers. It’s estimated at 19 mpg city, 28 highway, 22 combined. All-wheel-drive versions dip to just 17/25/20 mpg.
