The 2025 Range Rover pampers at every opportunity, and it stands ready to slay pavement or rough terrain.
What kind of vehicle is the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover? What does it compare to?
The Range Rover is a big SUV with immense capability and a high-zoot cabin. Compare it to the Bentley Bentayga, Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, and Cadillac Escalade.
Is the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover a good SUV?
It’s about as good as they get, so long as you don’t mind its hefty fuel consumption and sky-high price tag. The Range Rover is a beautiful luxury model with a driving experience to match, earning it a high 7.4 out of 10 on the TCC scale. (Read more about how we rate cars.)
What's new for the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover?
Land Rover’s biggest model is largely unchanged for 2025.
The Range Rover’s exterior design marries classic cues like a tall greenhouse and blacked-out roof pillars with lovely details that include an intricate grille design and massive wheels. It’s even prettier inside, with a gorgeous cabin design that features precious few buttons or knobs. Nearly every input needs to be handled via its touchscreen.
Every Range Rover has a hybrid powertrain, starting with a 395-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 and culminating in a 606-hp twin-turbo V-8 sourced from BMW. There’s also a plug-in hybrid ideal for emissions-free commuting. No matter the underhood mill, these are quick, quiet vehicles. They ride astoundingly well, too, thanks to a fully independent air suspension with adaptive dampers. Rear-axle steering gives them a planted feel at highway speeds while improving in-town maneuverability.
They’re also highly capable off-road, should you want to try out any of the various drive modes offered by the Terrain Response system.
In short: few vehicles can do it all quite like a Range Rover.
And it does it in comfort, too. While short-wheelbase models may be a smidge tight for rear-seat occupants, the long-wheelbase Range Rover has no problem accommodating up to seven passengers. The cabin has a slick, upscale design with spectacular materials. Top-end versions can be draped in luxurious materials in line with Bentley and Rolls Royce, with pricing to match.
All Range Rovers come with a full complement of driver-assistance technology, including adaptive cruise control, active lane control, front and rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitors, plus a useful surround-view camera system.
How much does the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover cost?
You’ll need at least $109,525 to take home the cheapest 2025 Range Rover SE, which has no shortage of fine features. Its leather-draped cabin features heated and cooled front seats, a 13.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and Meridian-branded audio.
Where is the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover made?
In England, of course.
2025 Land Rover Range Rover Styling
The 2025 Land Rover Range Rover is a statement piece wrapped in an SUV’s body.
Is the Land Rover Range Rover a good-looking SUV?
It’s a dazzler, with its beautiful exterior giving way to a stunning cabin. It gets a 9 on the TCC scale with two points each for its beautiful interior and exterior. It’s hard to imagine a better-looking SUV.
The latest Range Rover isn’t a big departure from prior versions with its wide rectangular grille surrounded by complex headlights. The clamshell-like hood leads to a somewhat upright windshield with black pillars, a classic look that dates back 50 years. Slab sides add a sense of drama, even if the contrasting trim on the driver’s door can seem a bit fussy in certain color combos. At the rear, the vertical taillights are a Michelin three-star chef’s kiss.
The cabin is more about what’s not there than what is. It’s light on fussiness, with a 13.1-inch touchscreen taking center stage on the dash. Beautiful materials heighten the sense of quality inside, especially since Land Rover offers many different choices.
2025 Land Rover Range Rover Performance
The 2025 Land Rover Range Rover gets out of its own way quickly, no matter the terrain.
Land Rover’s top-dog SUV has great power in any form, a spectacular ride quality, and impressive off-road ability for anyone curious enough to try it out. It’s an 8 here.
Is the Land Rover Range Rover 4WD?
Does the King live in Buckingham Palace? Yes, of course the Range Rover is immensely capable. Unlike some other Land Rover models, just about every feature in the catalog is standard fare here: a 2-speed transfer case, a locking center differential, and Trail Response with many different drive modes. The adaptive cruise control system lends itself to tech that allows the big Range Rover to lope along automatically at low speeds, but it probably takes too much of the fun out of the sport of off-roading. The only item worth adding here if you want to go four-wheeling is the locking rear differential, though we’d also make an appointment with a tire shop for some more aggressive rubber.
How fast is the Land Rover Range Rover?
It’s quick. The base 3.0-liter turbo-6 puts out 395 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, which works through an 8-speed automatic transmission to muscle the Range to 60 mph in just 5.8 seconds. It’s a quiet, refined operator, too. Most drivers will find it more than adequate.
The P530 pulls that engine in favor of a BMW-sourced V-8 with two turbos that puts out a low of 523 hp up to 606 hp, depending on the trim. It snarls with a wonderful baritone voice, though there’s a bit more turbo lag than you might expect. Still, it rockets to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds—or quicker.
There’s also a plug-in hybrid version of the inline-6 with nearly 550 hp, which can run to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds and offers up to 51 miles of range on a full charge. We’ve yet to drive it, but its spec sheet is quite appealing.
The Range Rover is a heavy, large SUV, but it handles with aplomb. Just-right steering heft compensates for a general lack of steering feel, but the Range Rover’s ace is really its suspension. The air springs combine with active anti-roll bars and adaptive dampers to shrug off just about any road imperfection. Compared to the Sport, the big Range simply mows over any kind of terrain, though it is never quite as nimble despite standard rear-wheel steering.
2025 Land Rover Range Rover Comfort & Quality
The 2025 Range Rover is more like a private jet than a luxury SUV.
Forget about Emirates first class. The Range Rover’s cabin is way nicer. It’s an easy 10 here for its comfortable first and second rows, ability to seat five in comfort, top-notch materials, and good infotainment system.
The front seats are exceptionally comfortable in base form thanks to 20-way power adjustments, heating, and cooling, while more adjustment and massagers are on the options list. Row two has fairly good room in the standard configuration, while the long-wheelbase version has stretch-out space. You can swap the rear bench for recliner-style seats separated by a big console, but only on top-end versions of the Range Rover. To be fair, the third row is a bit tight for adults. It’s fine for kids, though.
It may be big, but the Range Rover isn’t super spacious when it comes to cargo space. It offers up 40.7 cubic feet in short-wheelbase form, which grows to a healthy 83.5 cubes with the seatbacks down. Long-wheelbase versions offer about 10 more cubic feet of maximum capacity.
Even the cheapest Range Rover has spectacular interior materials, while high-end models feature leather on just about every surface that’s not already draped in wood or ceramics.
If there’s anything to complain about here, it’s that road noise can be a bit too pronounced.
2025 Land Rover Range Rover Safety
The 2025 Range Rover lacks crash-test data.
How safe is the Land Rover Range Rover?
As the 2025 Range Rover has not been crash tested by either the NHTSA or the IIHS, we can’t say for certain and therefore can't give it a score here.
What we can say is that the 2025 Range Rover comes well-equipped with crash-avoidance tech. Every version comes with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, rear cross-path detection, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitors. A surround-view camera is standard, and it can be augmented with automatic parking.
2025 Land Rover Range Rover Features
The 2025 Range Rover’s feature set matches its hefty price tag.
The 2025 Land Rover Range Rover is not cheap, but it manages to feel worth the (considerable) money. We rate the range at 8 out of 10 thanks to impressive standard equipment, opulent options, and a big 13.1-inch touchscreen. The 4-year/50,000-mile warranty is nothing special by SUV standards.
The lineup starts at $109,525 for the short-wheelbase version in SE trim, which has the inline-6, 21-inch alloy wheels, LED exterior lighting, 20-way power-adjustable front seats with heating and cooling, heated rear seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, and a sunroof. You really don’t need much more than this.
Which Land Rover Range Rover should I buy?
The long-wheelbase model costs $7,000 more than the base version, which may be worth it if you want a little more interior space. Otherwise, perhaps consider the $12,000 premium for the plug-in hybrid powertrain. It’ll never pay out in terms of lower fuel consumption, but it’s much peppier and its ability to go gas-free for 50 or so miles takes away some of the guilt.
Other options include an in-cabin refrigerator, a tailgate with gesture controls, and a rear camera mirror. It’s not hard to option up a Range Rover with $20,000 in special paint and interior trim, too.
How much is a fully loaded Land Rover Range Rover?
Buckle up. The SV’s special suspension and high-output V-8 peg it at $235,625 to start in long-wheelbase form. Special paint, unique exterior accents, power side steps, 23-inch alloy wheels, and fancier leather and wood can push it to $27,000. And if you want individual rear seats with a beautiful center console, pony up another $20,000. All in, it’s possible to tickle $300,000.
2025 Land Rover Range Rover Fuel Economy
Consider the expensive Range Rover plug-in hybrid if you want to reduce your fuel bill.
Is the Land Rover Range Rover good on gas?
It is not, but it doesn’t have to be terrible. Base P400 versions score a 2 on our scale thanks to their 17 mpg city, 24 highway, 20 combined estimates per the EPA test. V-8 models are only slightly worse at 16/23/19 mpg, though long-wheelbase versions are estimated at 16/22/18 mpg.
Fuel-economy estimates aren’t available for the plug-in hybrid version, but Land Rover says it will deliver up to 51 miles of range on a full charge.
